Opening hours and the ride

Fjellheisen runs daily from 09:00 to 00:00, departing on the hour and half hour. The ride takes about four minutes and climbs to 421 m above sea level. The café at the top is open from 09:00 to 23:30. Because the cable car runs until late, you can go up in daylight or after dark and see Tromsø's lights from above.

Construction: Fjellheisen 2.0

The cable car is being renewed under the name Fjellheisen 2.0, and it keeps running during the works. Expect a few changes at the top: the old viewing platform is closed, and a temporary café takes the place of the usual one. For the time being there is no access for wheelchairs or walkers. Please check the current state on the operator's page before you go if access matters to you.

Getting there

The lower station is at Solliveien 12 in Tromsdalen, across the bridge from the city centre. Bus 26 from Torgsenteret stops at Fjellheisen. During the construction there is no parking at the lower station; the alternative car park is at Solstrandvegen 30.

Tickets and cancellation

The return ticket covers the ride up and back down. The ticket through Headout cannot be cancelled; for the GetYourGuide ticket you see the conditions in the booking window before you pay. The Arctic Cathedral is also in Tromsdalen and served by bus 26, so the two combine well in one afternoon. Tickets for the cathedral are sold at the door.
