Questions about Tromsø tours

When is northern lights season in Tromsø? +
From late August to early April. You need darkness and a clear sky, and the aurora can never be guaranteed. The tours are on the northern lights tours page.
When can I see whales near Tromsø? +
Usually from the beginning of November to the end of January, when orcas and humpback whales follow the herring into the fjords north of Tromsø. Sightings cannot be guaranteed. More on the whale watching page.
What is the polar night? +
From about 27 November to 15 January the sun does not rise above the horizon in Tromsø. The polar night falls within both the northern lights and the whale season.
Can I cancel my tour? +
It depends on the tour. The whale watching catamaran booked through Headout can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before; the Fjellheisen ticket on Headout cannot be cancelled. You see the conditions in the booking window before you pay.
